Modeling the Smart Cities Future.
SC-01
Global/Cities/IoT marketing Partnerships AWS
There are almost as many Smart City applications as there are cities.  Most likely with each application is a legacy of systems that have specific standards.  How does a city move to being a smart city when it has so much legacy to contend with?   This session looks at modeling smart city applications that integrate IoT with APIs that interface to the standards.

There are few lightning rods larger than discussing the police force. The adoption of body cameras and role of active citizenry seem to make us aware of grievances faster, but not eliminating the problems we face. How can the adoption of technology support the need of government officials to keep people safe and reduce the incidents that threaten escalation?

SC-03
Director of Product Management GetWireless VP Channel of Sales Nextivity
AT&T has completed the First Responder Network. For the most part it is being used to support voice communication, yet the need for first responders is to have all the information to be able to evaluate and execute quickly still exists. Given our recent experience with flash floods and trends in violence, how can IoT increase information at hand to respond more rapidly and effectively, and avoid future catastrophe.

Are You IoT Ready?
SC-04
Founder and Chief Technology Evangelist James Brehm & Associates
The hype on the Internet of Things (IoT) is at its peak; the reality is that most companies today are still in learning mode on IoT.  Mobile network operators, systems integrators, hardware vendors and software providers are all using the hype surrounding IoT to drive new revenue streams and help their enterprise customers digitally transform their businesses. Recent research from James Brehm & Associates found that while over 70% of enterprises are working on IoT, fewer than 18% of deployments could be viewed as successful. And this means enterprises are looking for help and clarity, now more than ever before.

Megan’s law made it, so the highway system now has amber alerts to keep citizens informed. Around many transit systems, we have kiosks displaying a mix of advertising with public notices. How is the landscape of informing the public changing and bettering targeted information transfer and real time communications?

Enabling Private Network Interoperability with Public Networks - The Mobility Advantage
SC-12
Senior Product Management Director Syniverse
Private 4G and 5G Networks have the potential to bring enterprises advanced options for connectivity, combining the performance, reliability, and security of cellular with the practicality of Wi-Fi. Key to the enterprise private network value proposition is the ability to move from private to public carrier networks as seamlessly as from Wi-Fi to cellular. Roaming seamlessly between private and public networks traditionally requires multiple roaming agreements and the creation of multiple interconnections with MNOs; an approach that quickly becomes costly and time-consuming. In this session, Kathiravan Kandasamy, Sr. Product Management Director at Syniverse, will explore the complexities private network owners face when establishing complex roaming agreements with numerous national mobile carriers, including the necessary steps needed to maintain critical operation continuity as moving devices such as automated vehicles, autonomous mobile industrial applications, always-connected devices, or applications for devices requiring uninterrupted connectivity, even at the edge where the private network may be unavailable or out of reach.
